Assignment #-1: About Me

Trevor Debrecht (and sister)
4th year Senior

I am taking this class because I am interested in revolutionizing the way we interact with computers and technology in general. I have been programming for 8 years now, and have done a wide range of projects including 3d and 2d games and simulations, audio conversion tools, and web development. In ten years, I expect to be working for Raytheon, the CIA, or a university. Raytheon and the CIA for networking protocols and security, the university for developing Artificial Intelligence or new methods of human-computer interaction. I believe that the next major breakthrough in computer science will deal with the way we manipulate computers, whether it be (much better) voice commands, gestures, or direct brain interfacing.

If I could travel back in time, I would like to meet Alan Turing, to ask him what he thinks about modern technology and how his ideas influenced the field of computer science. My favorite shoes are white Pumas. I like them mostly because they are comfortable, but also because they are light and breathe well, a must in the Texas heat. Two languages I would like to be fluent in are Japanese and Russian. Japanese because they are leading the field in advanced robotics and are equal in standing with the United States in the field of artificial intelligence. I would also like to learn Russian, for they often lead the world in programming contests and conventions, especially in networking. An interesting fact about myself is that I was inspired to become a computer scientist in part because of my high school teacher, and also because I watched the movie Sneakers.
